Welcome To Coney Island

This project was built out of my love for Coney Island and combines video, photography, found objects and moving objects. It is meant to reflect the many aspects of Coney Island, from amusement parks to gentrification and global warming. The ferris wheel is built from a model and then hand painted and motorized. The teacup ride is constructed by hand, using 3D and laser printed gears and a toy teacup kit. The mermaids represent the Mermaid parade where activist artists often express concerns about climate change and environmental issues.  The construction trucks represent the construction that is everywhere in the district, scattered about among the rides and the surrounding blocks.
